We are looking for a Mechanic's Apprentice in Acton, ON.

Job Summary:
Diagnose, adjust, repair and maintain trucks and trailers. This includes engines, transmission, axles, brakes and electronics, as well as emission systems. Welding may be required from time to time. Assist with annual safeties as regulated by the Ministry of Transportation. Performing road service repairs on equipment as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Diagnose and repair units brought into the shop.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs in order to ensure the safe continuing operations of tractors and trailers.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Ensure all shop tools are used and stored properly
  • Record parts and equipment utilized on the repair order, and ensure the Service Coordinator is aware of stock taken.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Other mechanical repair work as required

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a registered 310T apprentice, in your second year or higher
  • Mechanic experience in the transportation industry will be considered an asset
  • Possess valid G driver's license (A or D license will be considered an asset)
  • Proven mechanical abilities in gas and diesel automotive repairs
  • Knowledge of Davie 4 and Insite an asset
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
