We are seeking a Journeyman Steamfitter and/or Gasfitter/Plumber to be our commercial hot water tank / boiler repair person for our dozens of buildings across Saskatoon.

We own and manage hundreds of residential buildings and thousands of apartments in various major Canadian cities, including dozens of buildings and hundreds of units in Saskatoon.

We are currently in need of a Journeyman, preferably with a gas ticket.

You will look after our buildings commercial hot water tanks, boilers and gas appliances.

You must have boiler repair and hydronic heating experience.

We are open to Red Seal Journeymen from anywhere in Canada.

The ideal candidate will be capable of performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial hot water tanks, boilers and gas fixtures and systems within a residential multi-family setting.

 

Duties

  • Conduct system inspections and testing to ensure all installations meet safety codes, regulations, and company standards
  • Install hot water tanks and complete repair and maintenance, change gas valves, control modules
  • Locate and repair leaks and other issues with water supply lines, drain cleaning -kitchen sinks, toilets, etc.
  • Repair or replace broken drainage lines, clogged drains, faucets etc.
  • Install and service different types of boilers, including steam boilers, mid efficient, high efficient and make up unit.
  • Cut, assemble and install pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure
  • Install and maintain gas and liquid heating systems (radiators, emitters, heat plate exchanger, etc.)
  • Install, maintain and service gas heating units and their components, such as burners, valves and automatic controls
  • Test and replace defective equipment or components
  • Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices.
  • Repair and service gas appliances and related equipment.
  • Maintain records of work performed and condition of facilities, materials used, and any follow-up required
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and local building codes, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
  • Be part of the on-call team and attend to emergencies as necessary and as scheduled by the Facility Manager
  • Other relevant duties assigned by Regional Manager/Facilities Manager

What’s the Job About?

  • This role will work with various stakeholders involved in performing a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial hot water tanks , boilers and gas fixtures and systems within a residential multi-family setting.
  • Perform work including but not limited to preventive maintenance, locate and repairing leaks, installing and repairing fixtures, pipes and tubes; manage document issues and maintain records of work, estimating costs, maintaining inventory, conducting system and safety inspections, install and service different types of boilers,  repair domestic appliances, ensure compliance with safety protocols, be part of on-call team and respond to emergencies, other duties as assigned by facilities manager
  • Oversee apprentices

 

WHAT do you need to have?

  • Strong knowledge of building and boiler systems / hot water tanks / furnaces.
  • Valid and clean driver's license and your own vehicle – Vehicle allowance and a T2200 for tax deductibility provided.
  • Journeyman certified or a Red Seal.
  • Gas certification would be an asset (non-restricted and restricted experience are considerable).
  • Knowledge of multi-family residential building assets, experience preferred.
  • Your own standard tools: other tools will be provided.
  • You need to pass a standard background / security check.
